Live Watch Faces (Animated) won’t play with Always On Display on. You must switch it off first. WatchOS has this restriction for animations.
To switch off Always On Display on your Apple Watch, you can follow these steps:
1. Press the digital crown and tap on Settings
2. Scroll to Display & Brightness and tap on it
3. Tap on Always On and toggle it off
Always On Display is available only on Apple Watch Series 5, Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Ultra and Ultra 2.
Live Watch Faces (Animated) still not playing?
1. Update the watchOS to the latest version
2. Restart both the Apple Watch and the iPhone
Turning off devices helps refresh the RAM. No data will be lost after turning on
Note: The live animation works when you lift your wrist and takes up to 3 seconds due to Apple Watch technical limitations.
